Learning Styles

After completing the learning styles quiz I found out that I had an even mix of Visual and Physical characteristics. I had few answers for Auditory.
This means that I learn best when there are Visual aids and when I can have a hands on approach to the subject. I feel that this is a true reflection of my learning style.

When relating my learning styles to the course it means that I learn best when we are doing practical work and when presentations have lots of images and diagrams.
To improve my learning I could take pictures of practical work what we have done.

The second quiz was almost equally balanced. It was slightly more biased towards physical which is a true reprosentation of of how I learn. This was in contrast with the other test as it showed a more balanced result where as on the other test there was almost no results pointing towards Audio learning.

I think this test also give a good reprosentation of my learning style as I feel I am overall balanced but more towards practical/physical learning.

With my learning style I feel I learn well using all teaching styles which is good, although I ahve preference to certain styles which I feel I learn best using.

Cleaning Computer Componets

It is vital to clean computer components as dusty components can cause health and safety hazards and poor system performance. A dusty computer case will make the computer overheat and reduce performance. Overheating can also cause components to burn which could be dangerous.

The picture shows the cleaning of inside the computer. This is the most important part to clean as it contains parts moving parts which can get hot. To clean these it is best to use compressed air and a soft brush and make sure all the dust is removed from key components. The vents at the back must also be clear as these expel air. Be careful not to damage any delicate parts as this could break the computer.

Key components to clean are also user interaction device (keyboard, mouse etc). These are used by everyone who uses the computers  so get very dirty and can carry germs. The keyboard should be cleaned inbetween all keys and wiped to remove grease.

Evaluation on My Presentation

The evaluation I was given was good. It was to the point and had both my negative and positive comments. It told me what to do in order to improve on my presentation skills.I feel the comments were fair and accurately reflected on what I had put myself.

Removing/Replacing the HDD in a PC

Removing the Hard Drive in a PC is relatively easy. Whether this is for cleaning purposes or installing a new Hard Drive.

1. Firstly the cover on the PC needs to be removed. Removal of the cover is different on all PC's but is usually removed by removing screws at the back, the cover then slides off.

The inside of the PC with the cover removed will look like this. The hard drive is at the bottom of the metal rack on the right hand side.

 2. The Hard Drive is connected to the Motherboard using SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) connectors. These cabled should be removed, take care not to yank them them out.

This picture shows how the HDD is connected to the Motherboard. The left cable is the data cable and the one on the right is to power the HDD.

 3. Once the cables have been removed from the HDD the screws on the side need to be removed. This will then enable the HDD to be removed from the case.

The lower 2 screws are for the HDD. There are another 2 on the other side which also need to be removed.

With the HDD removed the case will now look like this.

4. The removed Hard Drive will look like this. If it has been removed to clean then compressed air should be used to blow dust out. Avoid using a vacuum cleaner as this could dislodge small parts.
5. If a new Hard Drive is to be inserted then the existing one should be disposed of carefully, remember all your files and folder are still on it and so could be some personal information.

Methods Of Communication

On paper I created a list of technological and none technological communication methods. This was easy because it only involved using pen and paper. Nothing could go wrong technologically speaking which would ruin the work.

We then worked in groups on creating the same list. This method was good because we could have one person writing down the ideas and then the others could come up with different ideas. This method involved difficulty of getting everyone's ideas on paper at the same time. Also, if the system is to go down then all work would be lost.

Finally we used Google docs. This allowed people in our group to collaboratively edit the document and all changes were instant across all members.
